Santorum Calls for Defeat of U.N. Disabilities Treaty

Verona, PA - As the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs plans to hold a hearing this afternoon on the U.N. Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), former U.S. Senator, former Republican presidential candidate and Chairman of Patriot Voices Rick Santorum calls for the defeat of CPRD.

In an email to members of Patriot Voices earlier today, Senator Santorum wrote, "CRPD threatens U.S. sovereignty and parental rights, and if ratified, it would effectively put us under international law when it comes to parenting our special needs children. While CRPD may on the surface appear to protect those with disabilities, it actually gives the government the power, with direction from the U.N., to decide what is best for our children.  That is wrong and not something we should see in the United States of America."

Already, more than 17,000 emails have been sent through telling Senators to vote no on CRPD, and the efforts of Senator Santorum and Patriot Voices were instrumental in defeating CRPD in December, 2012.

"If you haven't called your Senators to express your opposition to this treaty that threatens our national sovereignty and could interfere with the kind of care we give to our special needs kids, now is the time to do it," Santorum continued.

Whenever I read the title of any pending bill, especially if it comes from the left, I immediately change it to the opposite of the title and figure that is what it is all about and I am usually fairly accurate. This holds true double for anything coming from the UN. I am very concerned that our nation keeps it sovereignty. If any UN treaty does get passed that directly effects us American citizens, I feel we have every right to refuse to submit.

If you want to truly understand one of the many reasons fighting this subjugation to a UN Treaty is critically important, take a quick look at this parallel case currently before the Supreme Court and you will see how valid concerns are about International Treaty impositions onto US Citizens is. It’s not a far stretch of the imagination…’s happening TODAY at the highest court of the land. This is exactly why we need to put a complete stop to the signing of any International Treaty which even potentially can impose itself over the rights of US Citizens. Whether it results in medical intrusion or home schooling intrusion, or who knows what… just know this is leading somewhere bad. Take a look at this link to a current Supreme Court case where a simple open and shut state jurisdiction murder case is being played out instead thru the Supreme Court because the Obama Administration wanted to use it as a test case for International Jurisdiction Prosecution.
