Hello, and thank you for taking a moment to read this. I vote republican on the second amendment, and only on it, and am ashamed and feel deeply betrayed every time a politician calls for any kind of gun control/tightening of firearm regulations. The second amendment, after all, is perfectly clear-the right to bear arms shall not be infringed. Even such things as the current background checks, limitations on when and where one can carry a firearm, and the ban on future production and purchase of machine guns and armor piercing munitions for civilians are all infringements. Remember, please, that as President, Madison said the second amendment even protected the ownership of cannons on private ships when in non-american waters.

Also, please remember, many people are like me, only voting in the mindset of protecting and reclaiming our second amendment rights, and we are keeping up with who is and isn’t doing that. The right of the people to own and bear arms is absolute, and, as a civil right, is not subject to any government regulations, and further, is not or rather should not be up for debate. Thank you, again, for reading, and I hope you take a pro-second amendment stance-strongly-every time and every chance you get.

I, the undersigned, a lover of liberty, an American patriot, and defender of the right to bear arms, do hereby implore you, our elected representatives, to protect our Second Amendment rights and stop efforts aimed at "universal background checks."

Recent incidents of heartbreaking gun violence have brought the issue of gun safety into the spotlight. Putting further restrictions on law abiding citizen-gun owners is not the answer.

We have gun laws in place, we need to work hard to enforce existing laws, not create new laws that do nothing to deter criminals and madmen.

The Second Amendment was drafted to protect our First Amendment rights, and according to my First Amendment right to petition, I expect review of this request, and will hold you accountable for your response to it.

Finally, I do hereby pledge to stand with Patriot Voices and conservative patriots nationwide in support of the Second Amendment and against efforts to implement "universal background checks."
