Santorum Stands with Pro-Life Texans in their Fight to Pass 20-Week Abortion Ban Bill

Verona, PA - Former Republican presidential candidate and Patriot Voices Chairman Rick Santorum today applauded the efforts of Governor Rick Perry and members of the Texas legislature for fighting to protect the lives of unborn children.

"I applaud Governor Perry for calling members of the legislature into a special session to pass Senate Bill 1 and House Bill 2 which will ban abortions after 20-weeks of pregnancy.  While the pro-abortion lobby may have had a temporary victory last week, I am confident that pro-life Texans will rally to pass these important bills that will protect the sanctity of life," said Rick Santorum.

Over the weekend, Patriot Voices launched a petition that has garnered thousands of signatures asking Americans to stand with life.  The petition, which will be delivered to Governor Perry, calls on signers to go 'toe-to-toe' against State Senator Wendy Davis and anyone else who supports abortion at any time and for any reason.  To view the full petition, please click HERE.

Patriot Voices is also mobilizing its members in Texas to rally in support of this pro-life effort and to attend events at the state capitol to support this measure.

Former Senator Santorum has been a leader in the fight to protect unborn children.  He led the efforts to pass the Born Alive Infants Protection Act in 2002 and the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act in 2003.

Being a woman who gave up her birth family over the love of life and children I applaud senator Santorum for standing with Texas. How is 20 weeks too much to ask for. I have 8 children and know I have been blessed by the experience. And would never ever have dreamed adding one more was too much! Thank you Patriot Voices for being the voice of reason when all else is failing!
