Santorum Condemns Vote for Hagel's Confirmation as Defense Secretary

Verona, PA - Former Republican presidential candidate and Patriot Voices Chairman Rick Santorum issued the following statement on the Senate vote to confirm President Obama's nomination of former Senator Chuck Hagel as Secretary of Defense:

"I'm disappointed Senators would vote to support Chuck Hagel as Defense Secretary because it sends the wrong message to our allies and enemies in the Middle East. Hagel has made a career of being outside the mainstream on foreign policy issues.  He's been too lenient on Iran's development of nuclear weapons, he's alienated our closest ally in the Middle East, Israel, and second guessed the troop surge in Iraq.   In addition, during confirmation hearings, he failed to provide full details of profits from foreign investors and statements he made during past speaking engagements.  I fear the signal that Hagel's nomination sends to our enemies abroad."

This is why I am a conservative NOT a Republican .They might as well take me off their mailing list because I will not send them any money.I will send my donations to Conservatives instead. As far as I’m concerned there were I believe the count was 17 spineless republicans that did not represent their districts (maybe wrong will see come next election)hopefully will have some real conservatives RUN AGAINST YOU.I for one intend to print out the roll call and call and thank the senators that showed courage and that they had a spine that I will support them for national office should they ever run UNLESS they choose one of the SPINELESS ones as their running mate .I for one intend to remember those who voted YEA today and I will not vote 4 them EVER.
