Rick Santorum Responds to President Obama's Immigration Edict

VERONA, PA - Former presidential candidate, former U.S. Senator, and Chairman of Patriot Voices issued the following statement in response to President Obama's executive action to provide amnesty to 5 million illegal immigrants.

Rick Santorum said: "Tonight's announcement by the President is just another in a long line of power-grabs by this Administration.  Despite saying as recently as one year ago that he was not the 'emperor' of the United States, this President simply does not believe that the Executive is a co-equal branch of government.  Time after time, President Obama has ignored the rule of law, ignored the balance of power between each branch of government, and ignored the will of the American people.  Today's executive order is a slap in the face of the democratic process and every voter who came out in this past November's election."

"We need an immigration policy that first and foremost stands for the best interest of America and the American worker.  President Obama's executive order providing amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants is the antithesis of this goal.  At a time when millions of Americans are struggling to find work and coping with stagnant wages, the President has decided to allow an additional 5 million individuals to legally compete with the existing American labor pool - diluting wages and opportunities for American workers further.  This decision flies in the face of basic principles of supply-and-demand and any interest in the welfare of the American worker," Santorum continued.

"I urge Speaker Boehner and incoming Majority Leader McConnell to use any means available to stop this unconstitutional attack on our liberty.  President Obama's executive overreach must be stopped - not just for the interest of the American worker, but for the interest of our country's future," concluded Santorum.

Rick Santorum, You got it exactly right. The Democrats have abandoned the pocket book issues of wages and jobs in favor of “identity politics”. Republicans only need to take up these pocket book issues to become the dominant party. You are the man Rick. 2016 is your year. A defender of amnesty named Goolsby cited the CATO Institute saying that more poor people was good for the economy. All we need to do is quote statements like that to win the debate.

Very well stated Senator Santorum. Thank you for being a voice of reason, at this time.
