Verona, PA – Nadine Maenza, Executive Director of Patriot Voices, issued the following statement in response to Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz’ recent comments that there should be no restrictions on abortions.
“Debbie Wasserman Schultz’ comments were appalling. Americans across this country overwhelmingly support some restrictions on abortions this late in pregnancy, and Chairwoman Wasserman Schultz’ comments are frighteningly revealing that the value of life has absolutely no meaning to her. Her comments were completely out of touch with Americans – Republicans, Independents, and Democrats.
“Patriot Voices is committed to fostering a culture where every life is protected. We have long supported the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which protects unborn babies after 20 weeks gestation, or 5 months of pregnancy, from abortion. Evidence is clear that at 20 weeks, a baby in the womb can feel pain, and this legislation would stop abortions after this point in the pregnancy. This bill also protects mothers from the physical and emotional dangers of late-term abortions. It is an important step in getting us closer to a point where every human life is protected and valued,” Maenza concluded.
