What Moms Think?
President Obama is thought by some to direct a positive Foreign Policy for America. Yet, in May 2011, President Obama declared that the borders of another sovereign nation, Israel, should be based on what they were prior to the Six-Day War in 1967. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, in response to this affront to Israel’s sovereignty, publicly rejected President Obama’s suggestion, saying the borders prior to 1967 would leave his nation and its citizens "indefensible" against attacks by those who refuse to recognize Israel’s right to exist.
26. Is it appropriate for a head of state from one country to tell another country what its borders should be?
IF NO IN Q26, THEN ASK:
26.1 Why Not?
Independent
FL Independent Other 45-64: It is very arrogant of him to assume he knows better than they do on what they should do. This county is in such bad shape that he has no room to try and dictate to someone else
OH Independent Black / African American 45-64: If you don't live there and are not a citizen there, how can you tell those that do what should be done there? With all due respect, our current president is not qualified to deal with foreign matters.
PA Independent White 35-44: He is unable to keep our borders safe, how can he make determinations on another countries borders? By making that statement, the President decided to turn his back on an ally for our country for his own reasons and not their country or ours.
PA Independent White 35-44: Israel is our ally - we should cause no harm, or make suggestions that could possible harm them.
VA Independent White 35-44: We should mind our own business and to the extent we have loyal allies like Israel we should stand by them not roll them under the bus. Thank God that Israel sees Obama as a temporary problem and I am sure they pray for our country to wake up sooner rather than later.
Democrats
FL Democrat White 18-34: You don't tell another home owner what color to paint their house.
FL Democrat White 35-44: I am usually in support of President Obama but this whole thing really pissed me off. Israel has been dealing with an on-going struggle to protect it's land and it's people for a very long time and I don't believe anyone, especially a leader from a foreign country, who does not live their struggle with them has the right to tell them how their borders should be set up.
FL Democrat Black / African American 18-34: ITS LIKE SOMEONE COMING IN YOUR HOUSE TELLING YOU HOW TO RUN YOUR HOME....ITS JUST NOT RIGHT
OH Democrat White 18-34: We as Americans wouldn't allow another country's leader to dictate what happens in our country so what makes president obama think he has the power to do so
OH Democrat White 35-44: Leaders of countries need to lead THEIR countries, not tell other leaders how to run their countries.
OH Democrat Black / African American: The United States needs to support Isreal
VA Democrat Black / African American 35-44: It's not our business...that's like one man telling another man who to run his household. it's not his business.
27. Overall, do you believe that the President is as committed to Israel’s survival and wellbeing as every prior president since 1948 has been?
IF NO IN Q27, THEN ASK:
27.1. Why Not?
Independents
FL Independent White 45-64: Every decision he has made has been detrimental toward Israel. From his apology tour, to his trying to tell them they need to unilaterally compromise (look where that's gotten Israel over the years), to the way he disrespected Netenyahu when he visited the WH. He is NO friend of Israel.
WI Independent White 18-34: No one who is committed to Israel's survival would have said they should go back to pre-1967 borders. During the Six Days' War (in 1967) Israel was attacked by most of the Arab world, with the intent of wiping Israel off the map.
Democrats
FL Democrat White 45-64: he is too self centered and will work for his own beliefs
PA Democrat White 45-64: I don't get the impression that he truly understands the issues of that region.
VA Democrat White: He seems to be more concerned about doing what will make him look better and not necessarily what is best for the people
