Benghazi Hearing

The Senate hearing today regarding the Benghazi massacre and subsequent administration cover-up harkens back to the depths of the Nixon White House. Thank God there are at least GOP senators who refuse to let the story die; no thanks to the mainstream media.

The Grand Ol' Party

I've always been more conservative than anything, but just recently embraced the Republican party and now am looking for any and all information regarding the party. It's amazing to me how the public in general has no idea of the party's roots. Abraham Lincoln was a Republican when it was a newly forming party, yet the view of the party now is so far from the truth. How do we get it back to reality? I think it has to start with each one of us and our interpersonal relationships on an everyday basis. When the entire party is under fire and the media feeds the public not on fact or merit but on name-calling and emotional twisted farcities, we HAVE to FIGHT BACK. Let's get it together--contact me at jryanh7926@rocketmail.com or on facebook. Joshua Hillman

Talking about Nazis

Regardless of any truth that may be inherent, in general, referencing Hitler or comparing one's political or ideological opposite to the Nazis signals an end to any chance at continuing any kind of discourse.

In general, this might also apply to labeling another Stalinesque.

Obama Gun Violence Press Conference

Fox News just reported that Pres. Obama and VP Biden will roll out a plan to reduce gun violence tomorrow. Joining them at this event will be children from across the country who wrote letters to Pres. Obama after the Newtown school shooting.

Question:
What do you think of President Obama's plan to have these children present?

Petition To Make Rescuing American Hostage Bob Levinson A Priority

US citizen Robert Levinson was kidnapped from Kish Island, Iran in March of 2007. Since then he has been held hostage against his will for over 2,100 days. In December 2011, the family released a proof of life video received from his captors. In the video his deteriorating health was evident. He had lost much weight and was in need of diabetes medicine. Since then he has not been heard from but it is believed he is still alive and being held in the Middle East.

It is the government's job to protect the lives of all US citizens; rescuing Levinson should be top priority right now for our country. He is greatly missed by his family and friends. Iran has been uncooperative and blocked investigations. We the people of the US wish to bring this man home no matter what it takes.

Petition regarding Samalia 1/11/13

According to the War Powers Resolution signed in by Congress in 1973, Obama overstepped his powers by sending troops to Samalia and not notifying congress until 2 days later for a failed rescue mission with the French. This was not an emergency situation and there were no attacks on us where we HAD to be there.  This was planned ahead of time without congress' knowledge. If you agree please follow the link to the White House petitions site, We the People. Will you sign it? http://wh.gov/E47l

On Loving our Enemies

I think it is very easy to construe, as Rick has, that openness to dialog with our enemies is siding with the enemy.  But this is not the way of the Gospel.  The way of the Gospel is forgiveness.  We can forgive our enemy, and still try to resolve issues.  But if we do not forgive, then we are still in punishment mode. Instead of wanting  to reconcile, we want to make the other side pay for what we see as wrongdoings.

Forgiveness of Iran cannot be taken out of the context of the fact that Iranians have genuine fears of Israel, and that they see Israeli confiscation of Palestinian land as a huge injustice.  Please do not conclude that I do not see that Israel also has legitimate fears and is also pursuing what they see as justice. There is a great deal of discussion and diplomacy that can take place instead of acts of war.

But war is just what our congress is steering us toward.  Our congress has already passed at least two laws that limit our state department's freedom to dialog with Iranian leaders and form policies.  These limits are already a violation of Just War Theory, because if we limit our dialog, war is by no means a "last resort".  The focus should always be one of forgiveness first, this is our calling.  Then we can approach our enemies with compassion.

A PUBLIC APOLOGY

Dear Rick,

How can anyone in good conscience contribute in any way to your cause when you unashamedly betrayed your principles regarding the sanctity of life without exceptions ( http://www.ontheissues.org/Archive/2011_Straw_Poll_Rick_Santorum.htm ) and the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman ( http://stevedeace.com/news/iowa-politics/santorum-is-right-romney-is-still-wrong/ ) by deciding to back Mitt Romney in the last presidential election, after running against him for the Republican nomination in defense of those same principles? Mitt Romney during his entire political career, including the past presidential campaign, had no scruples about sending mixed messages to the American people for the sake of gaining votes and financial support, when his past record in public office clearly identified him as supporting abortion on demand and same sex unions.

You concluded your 2012 RNC speech with the following words: "In November we have a chance to vote for life and liberty, not dependency. A vote for Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan will put our country back in the hands of leaders who understand what America can and, for the sake of our children, must be to keep the dream alive."

Instead, by supporting Mitt Romney in the last election, you also, like those who voted for Barak Obama, voted and encouraged others to vote for dependency on the pro abortion and childless union choices of godless men against God's unalienable rights to life and liberty, including our most fundamental and important God-given institution of marriage between one man and one woman.

You owe God and the American people a public apology for betraying your principles and your promises to them.

Sincerely,

Larry DeMejo
